This fall celebrates the 80th birthday of French actress & animals rights activist Brigitte Bardot.
Born in 1934, an aspiring ballerina in her teenage years, she found fame in the 50's & became a worldwide inspiration for women as well as a beauty icon for men.
Widely referred by her initials BB, Brigitte Bardot played in controversial movies such as And God created women & was described by writer Simone De Beauvoir as the most liberated woman in post war France.
She had a strong influence in fashion, popularizing the bikini, the Vichy print as well as having a neckline named after her, the Bardot neckline, a wide open neck that exposes shoulders.
In the early 70's before turning 40 Brigitte Bardot decided to retire from the entertainment industry, using her international fame to protect threatened & endangered animals.
She still strongly fights today for animals rights & is famous for her actions to save baby seals.
Happy Birthday |
St Tropez, originally a gorgeous fishermen town on the riviera which became an international hotspot & a France trademark after having been popularized by Brigitte Bardot!
