Her paintings emphasize middle class life & domesticity, female figures caught in everyday activity, and illustrate themes such as children, gardens, flowers & parks, courtyards & summer light which have all became recurring in her work and made her paintings recognizable in the French art world.
Born in 1841 in a well off & cultured family, Berthe Morisot became friends with Edouard Manet, a major figure of the Impressionist world & later married his brother Eugene, they had their daughter Julie. Bethe Morisot painted her life as well as the one of her relatives with paintings like "The Cradle" showing her sister contemplating her baby, and work representing her husband, herself & her daughter Julie with pieces such as the "Portrait of Bethe Morisot & her daughter".
She died at the age of 54 but her work still inspires people nowadays.
